I know just how you feel! Matilda is 8 months in a few days and still wakes one or 2 or more
times a night and every night is different. Just when I think she is starting to get a pattern
going, she changes again and I am totally exhausted! I have tried dreamfeeding at certain times
and nothing makes a difference. If I let her cry she gets hysterical and chokes too like
Cooper.
I took her to the CHN last week for this and the first thing she told me was "dont let anyone
tell you that just because she is 7 months old she should be sleeping through". She told me
that some babies just cant do it until they are closer to 12 months, and that if the baby has a
high metabolism they will still be hungry through the night and need feeding so if you think
that bub is hungry then feed.
I have tried Tizzie Hall's routine, wrapping again, heater, more blankets, changing bedtime and
bedtime routine, dreamfeeding, music, nightlights, etc etc and the only things I have found
that have made any difference were a vaporiser in her room (think it was getting a bit dry from
the heater) and a lullabub cot rocker. The lullabub has a remote which we leave outside her
door and when she stirs we turn it on without having to go into the room and 9 times out of 10
she will go back to sleep.
Perhaps with the 5am wake up you could get him up but not feed him until 6am. After a few days
he might realise that there is no point getting up that early because he is not getting
anything, and he might not bother anymore!
I spent heaps of time with the CHN so PM me if you want anymore info.
Hope you get some sleep soon
